Terms of Service

1. Agreement

These Terms govern your use of Maffen, a service operated by Maffen Oy (Finland). By creating an account or using Maffen, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, don’t use the service.

2. What Maffen is

Maffen is a proactive AI assistant that works inside a messaging app (WhatsApp) and a web dashboard. It can remember context you share, set reminders, help plan your day, check in proactively, and connect to third-party tools you authorise. Maffen’s responses are generated by AI and may be inaccurate or incomplete.

3. Eligibility & your account

You must be at least 16 (or the age of digital consent where you live) to use Maffen. Sign-in is passwordless: we verify your phone number with a one-time code. Keep your number and device secure — you’re responsible for activity that happens through your account.

4. Acceptable use

• Don’t use Maffen for anything illegal, or to harass, harm, defraud or spam other people.
• Don’t attempt to break, overload, probe, reverse-engineer or circumvent the service, including but not limited to its rate limits, usage quotas, fair-use limits, security controls, authentication, or any technical or contractual measures we use to protect Maffen or its users.
• Don’t use Maffen to send unsolicited messages to people who haven’t asked to hear from you.
• Only connect accounts and share information you have the right to use.

5. AI output — no professional advice

Maffen is an assistant, not a professional. Its output is for general information and convenience only and is not medical, legal, financial or other professional advice. Verify anything important before relying on it, and don’t depend on Maffen for emergencies or time-critical safety decisions.

6. Connected services & messaging platforms

When you connect a third-party service, you authorise Maffen to access it on your behalf for the features you use. Those services, and the messaging platforms Maffen runs on, are operated by others under their own terms and privacy policies; we’re not responsible for them and they may change or withdraw access.

7. Plans, billing & cancellation

Maffen offers a free tier and paid plans, including an optional EU Mode. Paid plans are billed through our payment provider, which acts as merchant of record. You can cancel any time; you keep paid access until the end of the current billing period and then return to Free. Early-access prices, fair-use limits and feature availability may change before general launch, and applicable taxes may apply.

8. Availability

Maffen is provided “as is” and “as available”. We may add, change, suspend or remove features at any time, including but not limited to changes to functionality, availability, fair-use limits, or the messaging platforms and connected services Maffen supports, and we don’t guarantee uninterrupted, secure or error-free operation.

9. Ending your use

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Privacy; this permanently erases your data as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these Terms or to protect the service and its users, including but not limited to attempts to break, overload or circumvent the service, fraud or abuse, unlawful use, or non-payment of amounts due.

10. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Maffen is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, including but not limited to lost profits, lost data, loss of goodwill, or service interruptions, or for decisions you make based on AI-generated output. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including your mandatory rights as a consumer.

11. Region-specific consumer terms

Nothing in these Terms removes mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live. Specific regimes:

• EU/EEA & UK: you keep your statutory consumer rights, including any applicable right of withdrawal for digital services; these Terms don’t limit them.
• California (US): your privacy rights under the CCPA/CPRA — including that we do not sell or “share” your personal information — are described in our Privacy Policy (§11).
• India: your rights as a Data Principal under the DPDP Act, and our Grievance Officer contact, are described in the Privacy Policy (§12).

12. Changes & governing law

We may update these Terms; we’ll revise the date above and, for material changes, notify you through the service. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept them. These Terms are governed by the laws of Finland, and disputes fall under the competent courts of Finland, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights in your country of residence.
